Zirconium Veneer

Zirconium Veneer

What are zirconium teeth?

Zirconium teeth have a semi-transparent property, just like natural teeth. Because of their light-transmitting properties, they look like natural teeth. They do not cause the gray or purple discoloration that porcelain veneers can cause in the gums, and they pose no harm to human health; therefore, allergic reactions that can occur with other veneers are not seen with zirconium applications.

Zirconium porcelain crowns are a type of transparent tooth crown that has become popular in recent years. They are made from zirconium metal, which is white and heat-resistant. They are divided into two types: metal-supported and metal-free. Metal-supported crowns have a denser structure. Zirconium porcelain crowns, being translucent, do not cause dark discoloration in the gums and, being metal-free, have a less dense structure than metal-supported crowns, offering a more natural appearance.

Patients with metal allergies do not experience any problems when using zirconium dental crowns. Patients who have zirconium dental crowns are most satisfied because zirconium is a white substance, which keeps the gum margins white and gives their teeth a transparent appearance.
Due to its white and transparent appearance and its high resistance to pressure and force, zirconium dental crowns, which have become popular in recent years, provide very satisfying results in terms of aesthetics and function.

About Zirconium Teeth

Zirconium is a white metal found in nature, similar to granite. In dentistry, crowns and bridges made with porcelain placed on a zirconium substructure, known as Cercon, are a system with the highest physical resistance of 900 MPa. It is a major innovation in dental treatment due to its lack of harm to human health, easy tissue compatibility, insulating properties against hot and cold foods preventing sensitivity, and its lack of discoloration of the gums.

Zirconium dental crown application is similar to classic dental crowns; the difference lies in the laboratory processes. Zirconium teeth are made using computerized devices with CAD/CAM technology.

Zirconium Tooth Lifespan

Zirconium is more durable than the metal materials used under porcelain veneers. Therefore, it can be safely used in both front and back teeth.

The lifespan of a zirconium crown varies depending on proper care, regular brushing, and daily use of mouthwash, but it is approximately 10 years. However, it is still longer-lasting than other porcelain crowns. Porcelain crowns last 5 years. After 5 years, porcelain crowns need to be replaced, and after 10 years, zirconium crowns need to be replaced as well.

Zirconium teeth, under normal conditions, do not break while eating or drinking. With regular cleaning and care, and depending on the individual's jaw structure, they can last for more than 10 years.
