All on four implant-supported prostheses
This technique is applied to patients who have lost all their teeth or need to have them extracted, and who lack bone in the posterior regions of their jaws. It is crucial that patients receive fixed teeth on the same day. Furthermore, the patient must not have any underlying medical conditions that would prevent dental implant surgery and must have sufficient bone volume. If sufficient bone structure is not present, sinus lifting or graft procedures are performed at our clinic.
What are the stages of All On Four treatment?
Patients scheduled for All On Four treatment must first undergo a detailed clinical and radiological examination at our clinic. Measurements are taken using computed tomography (CT) scans to create a suitable treatment plan.
The All On Four procedure consists of two stages: surgery and prosthetic procedures. On the day of treatment, four dental implants are placed according to the plan, and a temporary dental prosthesis is fixed onto the implants on the same day. Permanent dental prostheses are made for the patient after 3 months .
Will I experience pain after the All on Four procedure?
As with other implant procedures, some pain and swelling may occur after the procedure. However, these symptoms can be easily controlled with medication as recommended by our experienced doctors.
What should my diet be like after the All On Four procedure?
You can use your temporary dental prosthesis, which is fixed onto the dental implants after the operation, immediately. However, during the 2.5-3 month period when the dental implants are fusing with the bone, you need to follow a diet recommended by your doctor. After this fusion process is complete, you will be able to eat as you wish with your permanent prosthesis.
Advantages of All on Four treatment:
- Angled implants placed in the back of the jawbone ensure that anatomical structures are not damaged.
- Angled posterior implants are used for a longer period, allowing them to be placed in higher quality bone.
- Bone graft procedures are not required.
- It enables the creation of prostheses that are easier to clean.
- Because fewer implants are used, the cost is lower.
- Further bone loss is prevented.
- Speech and chewing functions are improved.
- Faster recovery results in less pain and less discomfort.
- Since the implant and prosthesis procedures are performed on the same day, the patient experiences minimal inconvenience.
- It is a treatment method with a high success rate.
- Sinus lift surgery is easier and takes less time than dental implant surgery because it doesn't involve any advanced surgical procedures such as bone graft grafting.
- Suitable for patients who cannot use removable dentures and have a gag reflex.
Is the All-On-4 Implant Procedure Painful?
All-on-4 implant treatment is painless. While it is performed under local anesthesia, it can also be performed under general anesthesia if patients have concerns such as anxiety or fear. However, it is quite normal to experience some minor pain after the effects of the anesthesia wear off. In such cases, our doctors prescribe pain medication to our patients. If the medication is taken at the prescribed intervals, no problems are encountered.
What should the diet be like after All On 4 Implant surgery?
The diet following All-on-4 implant treatment should be as recommended by our doctors. During the 3-month period when the temporary prosthesis is fitted and the dental implant is expected to fuse with the bone, our doctors provide patients with a diet program that must be followed. Very hard foods should be avoided during this period.
Permanent dental prostheses are fitted to our patients at the end of the 3-4 month period. Afterwards, no special diet is prescribed for their eating habits. They are free to consume whatever food they want. However, it is recommended that they be careful about the foods they consume in order to ensure that their implants last longer.
Everything you need to know after an All-on-4 implant procedure :
- No food should be consumed within 2 hours after the operation. Extremely hot or cold foods should not be consumed during the first 24 hours.
- After the procedure, pressure should be applied to the implant area with a tampon to allow clotting and stop bleeding. A soft and sterile tampon should be chosen. Your doctor will provide detailed information and show you how to apply it.
- It is possible to see blood in saliva in the 24 hours following surgery. However, care should be taken to avoid spitting and rinsing the mouth during this period.
- Brushing your teeth and using mouthwash should be avoided on the evening of the day the operation takes place.
- Starting 36 hours after the operation, gargling can be done twice a day. Approximately 40 minutes after gargling, no food should be consumed.
- Smoking or alcohol consumption should be avoided for 24 hours after the procedure. Furthermore, it is strongly recommended to refrain from smoking altogether until the treatment and recovery process is completely finished.
- If your doctor recommends painkillers or antibiotics, you should use the medication if you experience the associated symptoms.
- If bleeding occurs in the implant area in the days following the procedure, applying pressure to the area with a sterile swab is sufficient.
- Swelling in the treated area is normal for a few days following the procedure. However, applying ice to the implant area is recommended to minimize the swelling.
- In sutureless implant treatment, there is no need to visit our doctor later for suture removal. However, if the sutures are non-dissolving, they will need to be removed after 5 or 7 days.
- If any problems arise with the implant, it is necessary to contact our doctors without delay.
